Lotus is a beginner-friendly lacy cover-up pattern made from joined squares, in any length and width you like.
Lotus is a beginner-friendly, square-based, lacy crochet cover-up/cardigan. It is made by creating individual squares and joining them together, so you can easily adjust the finished piece to your preferred width and length.
The pattern includes detailed charts and links to videos showing how to make the squares and how to join them together. The final size of your Lotus will depend on your individual gauge, the yarn and hook you choose, and — most importantly — how many squares you decide to make.
Because of this, there is no fixed yarn quantity given for this pattern. Instead, I recommend making one complete square with your chosen yarn and weighing it. Once you know how much yarn one square requires, you can calculate approximately how much yarn you will need for the number of squares you want to make.
The recommended yarn weight depends on the size you are making:
XS–M: fingering weight L–XL: fingering or sport weight — I recommend making one square in each and checking which one works best with the measurements provided in the pattern XL+: sport weight
Keep in mind that your yarn requirements will also vary depending on your individual tension and the final length and width of your cover-up.
The front tie is not included as a separate pattern element. You can choose the type of string or cord you like and decide where you would like to place it, allowing you to customize the finished piece to your preference.
